Section 810-20 talks about an Antenna Discharge Unit. I am looking for information on these. Does anyone have a manufacturer of these units and what is this units primary function?

Re: Antenna Discharge Unit

It may simply be the grounding block that is inserted in the coax of an outdoor antenna before it enters the structure. It has 2 female connectors on it for the coax, and a screw for a grounding electrode conductor. This is widely available from any store selling CATV / antenna wiring supplies.

There are also more elaborate gas discharge devices which go in line similarly to the grounding block, but have a arc gap in a small gas filled tube to provide an easy path for lightning on the center conductor of coax to discharge to earth before it reaches attached equipment. This is available from lightning protection specialty vendors such as Polyphaser ( http://www.polyphaser.com ).
