any full time commercial estimators?

I was hoping for some advice

Our shop has recently been bidding mid size commercial and we have always done our estimates by hand.

I would like to go to the next level and get some software etc.

I have searched the old posts and found some info on software etc

but where should I really start? I dont want to go to a sales seminar or something like that but I do want a running start.

anyone in the mid-west (not St Louis) that would give me a crash course?

You need to download the trial versions from all the major vendors, and then make a decision on wich one works best for you. I use Vision Bid Manager, and like it very much. Check with Vision Infosoft, Conest, Accu-bid, McCormick, they all have top of the line programs.
