Any known issues with early AFCI's sharing a circuit with a GFCI device

Perhaps this is the wrong forum but I didn't see anything troubleshooting specific.

Arc Fault Breaker keeps tripping usually while the family is sleeping so there are virtually no loads running. The circuit holds when I am there.
Circuit is connected to receptacles for 3 bedrooms and the waterfall feature which is GFCI protected. Midday the load was only 3.3 amps.*
I found the old GFCI receptacle at the water feature to be faulty so I replaced that. I also found damaged wireing on the 12v side of the fountain light transformer which I either repaired or eliminated. The next morning though the circuit functioned all day it tripped again. I've isolated the portion of the circuit which includes the GFCI device from the AFCI circuit and have it temporarily attached to another circuit in hopes of isolating where the problem lies.
Are there known conflicts with the early AFCI's where they neusance trip on circuits which also have class A gfci protection?
