Good day everyone,

I was wondering if anybody has ever heard of a system or a (listed) product in which a building owner / maintenance person can lower their HID fixtures via a pulley system or similar in order to replace the lamps more easily. I have a customer which has about a dozen HID high-bays that are about 50' off the floor. To change the lamps is hassle to say the least, and they don't own a scissor lift and have to rent one. The fixtures aren't accessible from above either.

Thank you for any and all contributions.

We've got a pulley system to lower chandeliers that are in an auditorium for re-lamping/re-wiring purposes. Nothing fancy, just a basic pulley with steel cable and a retractable reel of SO cable.

They exist, powered and manual. I cannot remember the manufacturer, but I have specified one in the past that "disconnects" the fixture as it is lowered and "reconnects" when it is raised again (some type of pin and sleeve plug). They are great for when you have fixed seating in an arena.

Are you thinking of Alladin lifts?

A guy could rent a one man lift 2 or 3 times a year for many many years for the cost of installing an alladin lift on each fixture. Changing lamps, or hiring it out, is just the price of doing business. I never really considered there was an option to using a lift. Interesting to consider if options are out there.?
