Hey Guys, Anybody work with Ademco fire alarm panel? I've got a job that requires a stand alone fire alarm system and my buddie said I should got to ADI and try the Ademco panel. But my electrical said the DSC was better. Any ideas?

Um... yeah. You're sorta asking like that's some obscure brand. It's pretty dog-gone popular. To me, I have no preference between the two brands you listed. It would boil down to price if it was a choice between the two.

. . . Anybody work with Ademco fire alarm panel? . .
Back in (dare I say it?) 1975, I installed a lot of Ademco stuff. Ademco had a great name then with alarm systems equipment. In burglar alarm equipment, they were the premiere manufacturer. Today . . . I don't have a clue since I hung up my tool pouch in 1980.

Both brands are of good quality. Since you sound as though you have not worked with either brand I would flip a coin and pick that way. Either one of those brands have strengths and weaknesses. The programming formats are different so you have to figure out which one you prefer. I like Ademco tech support a little bit more than DSC but that is about it.

Ademco doens't make a traditional fire alarm panel. They make combination burglar and fire alarm panels, as well as wireless fire alarm systems.

Actually, Honeywell owns Ademco, Firelite, and host of other security/fire alarm device companies, so really it comes down to Honeywell and a particular brand within the Honeywell umbrella.

For a small fire alarm system I would choose a Fire Lite panel, for cost and ease of use.

I've got a nickel that says the respondants to this thread get an invitation from the OP to be a mod at a new low voltage site. He's spamming lots of sites on the net hard the last few days. At least this post was just fishing for people he could PM. On some site, he's just posting an outright spam ad for his new site. It's hardly a coincidence that his join date is 2 days after that new site started. He has 2 posts, with one visible. Was the other his spam ad? One has to wonder. My mind's made up. That new low voltage site is certainly nice, and holds promise, but the way they're trying to drive traffic there these last few days is low class. It's not just on this site.

We know this too. If he does start ...
Thanks

TampaJoey from that site spammed me by PM, and I believe that he is the user Low Voltage Man. Might want to check to see if the IP's match. A similar user with a similar user name who's IP comes back to Tampa Bay, FL is spamming lots of electrician sites the last few days.

The FBI just called. They want you to head up their new spam investigation unit. :D

It just chaps my back side, that's all. I'd have really liked that site if it wasn't for the low-class way they chose to drive traffic there. They've got some ditsy actress-type girl as their spokesperson in a video. Hardly inspires confidence.

Marc, I should have said thanks for the heads up.

Roger

comon, man. what would the world be without ditsy actress-type spokesmodels. fault em for anything, but don't fault em for the ditsy spokesmodels.
