Specs on a set of plan I'm bidding state to x-ray floor to locate steel before core drilling for a floor receptacle.

Has anyone done this? Or paid someone to do?

Is there an easy way?

I have but only in post tension slabs. We split the cost with the other MEP's.

We exclude it, GC generally does it for all the trades and saves a few bucks in the process.

Same here.

In the past we've had some jobs that have required floor X-rays prior to coring holes. The GC was responsible for the X-ray vendor. We were responsible for the penetration layout. The X-ray company would approve/disapprove our layout after reviewing their films. Once they signed off on it were permitted to core drill our holes.

Had this done once on a concrete tank wall. I don't think it was regular x-ray, they put a radioactive source inside and film outside. Dark parts had the post-tensioning strands. Hired a local geotech company for it- they regularly use radioisotopes in their nuclear density meters.
