I need a square D EHB 3-pole 50A 480v cb;

they are now obsolete; called square D, they have no replacements.

anyhow, called my local suppliers and only one said they could get it. the price was $800.

i called a place called relectric(.com) and they priced it to me @ $350.

have any of you dealt with this company, and are they reputable?

Have never dealt with them but when I search breakers and such they pop up first most everytime. Reason being (I just found this out) They have to pay the search engines Big Bucks to be at the top of the list! So I would say they are trustworthy. but maybe someone else will chime in that has dealt with them.

I cannot speak for that specific firm, and I recognize that they fill a very real need. Yet, one thing needs to be clarified:

There is no such thing as a 'remanufacturered' or 'tested' used circuit breaker. The NEMA standard they claim to use has been cancelled- because of mis-use by these places. The standard states quite plainly that it's not to be used for quality control of used breakers, yet that's exactly what these houses do.

When queried on the topic, UL took pains to explain that their testing involves testing many breakers, many in ways that deliberately destroy the test sample. Therefore, there's no way for even UL to test a single breaker and say 'it passes.' In truth, the UL lable only attests that a statistical sample of the production run passed the tests, not that every single breaker was tested.

. . . . .

there is no other choice on obsolete gear.

my supplier cost on an 18sp 125A MCB 480v panelboard + 3pole 50A cb is almost $2600. Add labor, wire, pipe, etc. . .and I came up with a quote to them of over $5300 to tap from existing feeders and mount a new panel next to existing. Not worth fixing at that price.
