What is required to do electrical work there ?

Can owners work on their own house ?

What codes are in use ?
 
This was the response from my NZ friend:

Hi Tony, yes, but I'm not a member (MH Forum.) Tell them AS/NZ3000. You have a copy if they want you to email it. Yes, home owners can do electrical on their own house but only to a certain point, then I believe it needs to be inspected. They cannot connect into a switchboard for example as I recall.
