I have grown to like LED lighting over the past year or so. Some customers have gone for it, but some have not because of various reasons, mainly price. I came across this and thought worth posting because it looks like prices are coming down without having to find the right online source. Granted it is the box store, which some are ok with and some avoid like the plauge. :) Anyway, FWIW, here's the link

Just finished putting $3K of under cabinet LED in a kitchen remodel. 24V DC Kichler, nice product, but you have to do your homework on layout and pre wire, everything used is specific to the product i.e. cable, connectors, etc. The cost to me is high, could have done the same job with Xenon for 1/3 the cost.

I've been trying to push LED since I have a few good lighting reps. that have loaned me some fixtures to use as samples. I have not sold any yet, though. Most of my commercial and residential clients that want to go for the LEDs have a strong background in design and the biggest catch is that while dimmable (to a point, and only with specific devices) the color temperature does not shift when dimming down to near minimum brightness. In all honesty, we are experimenting with/living with some CRE LR-6's in our bedroom and it is odd to to have just dim light with out the "romantic" mood of a 65 W BR30 that we are used to. Hmm. I just realized that I better choose another room in the house to test out those Cree's as the romantic opportunities have seemed to decline.... 65 W BR30's and candles going back in this evening...

There is a bill currently being pushed through the Florida Legislature that will require all new public schools built after July 1st, 2010 to have lighting using LED as the primary source of illumination.

I am not a big fan of laws being used to mandate new technologies, but that is how it goes.

GFCI's
AFCI's
Bubble Covers
Solar
...

Put it this way, my first copy of the NEC is half the weight of my 2008 copy. Most of the weight gain is attributable to new technology in some form or another.
