I have spent over over 15 years in outside sales both for a supply house and contractors. I work for a contractor now.

I was thinking on putting together a presentation something on the lines of "Increasing Sales in Tough Times" for the Electrical Contractor.

Its my opinion that a lot of E.C have had business just come their way over the years and never really concentrated on the actual "sales" aspect of our business.

My thought was to put on this presentation to groups like the IEC etc.
I have the ideas but I am not sure if there is an interest in this (and if it would even pay to do it???)
I couldnt really even do this in the market that I am in (St Louis)

any thoughts?

i would like to think there are enough EC's interested in such a class, but something tells me there is not. In fairness though, that is my opinion based off the attitudes of the EC's in my area. Sales is an important part of a successful business.

I agree you would like to THINK they would be interested. Most of the contractors I come into contact with have had their GC's for years. The game played was these are mine those are yours. Don't mess with mine and I wont mess with yours kinda thing. On the large jobs it was bid bare minimum and hope for change orders. But now it's a different story. No one saw the need to SELL them self's and they dont know what to do or how to do it. Its just go out and try and cut every one's throat with out bleeding to death your self.
