[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica] I just received a letter from AON Home Warranty Services, Inc. inviting me "partner" with them.

I had some bad experiences with another outfit called American Home Shield. They still owe me over $500 from some repairs I performed on their behalf last summer. So forgive me if I sound a bit skeptical with home warranty outfits.

So my question here is have any of you had any experiences dealing with AON Home Warranty? What can you tell me about how they really operate with their "partners"?

We had some dealing with AON a while back. I think they want you to go look and see what is wrong. Diagnose it, then only charge them $50. Seems like there was a loose connection, so they offered to pay for the wire connector and make the owner pay for the labor. We pretty much stopped talking calls from AHS and AON. I think they are not worth the trouble. Just my opinion, you feel it out as you wish.

Unless you really need the work, it's not worth the administrative hassle. At least not to me. I prefer to explain what I charge, rather than to be told what they'll pay.

AON doesn't ring a bell, but I did a service call for one of these companies a few months ago. They charge the homwowner a 50 dollar deductable, which I am to collect, an they pay the rest of my fee. It might come as no surprise to you to learn that the homeowner was totally unaware that they had to pay the first 50 bucks. That puts me in the middle of something I'd rather not be involved in. All those warranty companies can take a hike. There's just too much regular decent work out there to bother with them.
