I picked up a set of App Lights from Amazon, $50. They were $90 before Christmas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVQoThGnm1c -lots of You Tube Videos on them
There are about 150 different effects, set up using a App that uses BlueTooth to communicate.

My house is stucco, can use a staple gun or easily install hooks, so these lights will stay up. Right now I have them set to Madi Gras.

They are LED of course, and its part of the lighting revolution. I saw LED smartphone controlled lamps at Ace Hardware for $12.99.

Neat.

Not sure how long your string is, or if you want more, but HD has them on clearance for $15/ea:

Can they be set to music? I read the reviews, mostly good, didnt say there, the Q&A, or spec sheet. Apparently the app cannot be used as a switch/timer to turn them on/off.

If you go crazy with them, take some video of your house for next Christmas!

No can't sync to music or write apps. I have only one string that is around the porch entrance. But I could see complaints if they were on soffit, and many feet of it. Clearance at HD, interesting, that may mean there is a newer version out.

There's a company out of Miami that does really tricked out LED lighting. They do building exteriors, landscaping, etc. You don't see any of the lights, just the light.
They have everything synched and choreographed to produce really nice soft but dramatic lighting which changes so slow you can't see it changing, but if you stand there and watch it you'll notice a different color from one minute to the next.

The hip hop lighting does not appeal to me but I could see on New Year's or Halloween or the 4th of July having wild & crazy programs running.
