Apparently the guys with the hoses didn't use the service disconnect....

Yep... some do use the disconnect, some pull the meter, and some just go in live... depends who trained them and who makes them follow protocol. Also if they are volunteers...

Pulling the meter is the dumbest of the three options... Wait till they pull the meter wrong and it explodes in their face like a glass hand grenade... Or it's a CT cabinet and doesn't cut the power at all.

or the service wire inside shorts out from the fire and causes an arc flash as they pull it!

Most firefighters are being trained not to pull meters as they are not qualified for that type of work and fire turnout gear is not rated for arc flash protection.

Even with departments that sill pull meters, not using the marked emergency disconnects reflects very poor training for that department

2500 boxes insane I just came from a HVAC installation took the guy three hours and the units 2000 bucks. He charged a guy $6000. I hope karma is reality because these guys need to get sued ,divorced ,dead or all three.
