Asked three suppliers for price on 300 HP soft starts today. Only $5200 difference. Now, who didn't include what, will take another day to make sure we are all on the same page.
Some soft starts are just a step away from a full-on VFD, and some are more primative analog units. Some will "know" if the motor is jammed and quit ramping up, and others will just ramp up anyhow, and let it trip out. Just depends on how fancy you want. You can get them in a can with a breaker and all, like a combination motor starter if you want. That adds to the price.
So I've noticed. The cheapest didn't even have all the parts included to make it operate correctly, let alone any options to make it function in a real world situation. Not happy with brand z rep at the moment.
