There are many posts here about using a plug and cord when installing a dishwasher but no one states what gauge cord they are using. At work (HD) everyday someone asks for such a cord and I typically hand them a 14 gauge appliance cord but there is a "Dishwasher" cord in the appliance dept which is 16 gauge. What are you guys using?

I've read 240.5 and 400.5(a) and it looks like 16, with an ampacity of 13, is adequate for most dishwashers. I gather an appliance cord is sized for the load of the equipment and not necessarily to the ocp.

Not according to the wording.
7.3.1A ..............that the appliance is able to be connected by means of a power-supply cord

If one is installed, it must be the manufacturers. But a cord, factory or otherwise, is not required.

Mark if I were to sell an appliance cord I would recommend the largest one you have. I have never used a cord and plug on a dishwasher and I don't plan on ever doing so. Of course, some of the units do come with there own cord and plug but I bet they are not what you sell at the HD...
