Maytag just recalled 1.6 million refrigerators! Problems with factory wiring that can lead to fires. Manufactured between 2001-2005? I believe?? I know someone that had a house fire from failure of one of these "friges". Also have you ever noticed on appliances such as dishwashers, you are provided with an enclosure box to make your electrical connection, only to have nothing but stranded "exposed" conductors out of the box? No wonder when you hear of a structure fire, they say that it could be "electrical"!:-?

It was Maytag or Whirlpool one, that had a recall on their dishwashers due to water leaking from the heating element traveling down the wire to another component possible causeing a fire. The recall consisted of installing a tyrap to hold the wire up. I've noticed lately a lot of dishwashers are now enclosed on the bottom with a factory cord and plug installed.

Whirpool bought out Maytag. The factory cord and plug should be mandantory requirement. I connected a new Kitchen Aid on saturday that had the j-box with exposed wires.

The J-box cover was in the package with the instruction and the free jet dry sample. The plumber never looks for it. The free sample gets stolen and I find the covers in the trash or on the floor in the garage. Electricans go nuts when I fail a job because the cover is missing.
