Re: apprentice interview/school

Age doesn't seem to be a factor. I was about 45 when I started my apprenticeship.
There were questions like "are you afraid of heights [ladders]?" or crawlspaces [getting dirty]?".
Don't ask about union/non on this forum. They are ultimately the same.
The general idea is they are looking for cheap labor for grunt work like digging ditches and lugging materials for the first year or so with enough intellectual capacity to understand a poorly written lawbook like the NEC to boot.

Re: apprentice interview/school

HI,

I started at age 42, took classes at a night tech school and through Education Direct.(distance learning). I have also purchased Mike Holts and Tom Henry videos, these really help.

Just have fun and stay safe.

I started in the trade with night scool at 40 years young, don't worry about it.
Not too long ago my foreman, my plant manager and a few of others were discussing prospective employees.
My managers comment that caught my attention was, I'd like someone with whiskers, meaning he prefers a mature applicant against a fresh from high school type.
I like this guy.
