Can a person be an electrical apprentice their entire career?


Is it an individuals choice as to whether or not they want to test to become a journeyman or after so many years are they required to or forfeit their apprenticeship?

I don’t know why you would want to go your whole career not to better yourself. But yes if you want to stay an apprentice you can do so.

I had worked with some pretty good "career apprentices" over the years.
For one reason or another they never got their ticket.

Ive worked with some guys that switched trades later in their working life and decided it wasnt worth it to them for less than 10 years left of working.

What's your 10/20 ? Then licensing info can and would be more specific to your area.

I know some guys who are only apprentices and stay that way because they are (for example) engineers but want to be able to help electrician colleagues in the field.
