Since I already have completed my 8,000 hrs of documented work and my Apprenticeship Certificate through USMAP (United States Military Apprenticeship Program), not sure if you herd of it, if I considered to go union would I have to go through their apprenticeship?

i would take a journeymans prep class in your area. beleive me it helps then take the test and get your license. then i would work open for awhile then go union .see what you like better.if you like to travel and see the usa i would go union .

Go talk to the Union in your local area. Every area is different. If you have your J card you probably can just go sign up for the union.

That would be up to the particular Union.

You might consider talking with the people at either:
Helmets to Hard Hats ~ http://www.helmetstohardhats.org/

or

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers ~ http://ibew.org/

You are considering Tx...Dallas/Ft. Worth area? http://www.ibew20.org/

If I'm wrong on that account, here is a listing for Texas Locals ~ http://ibew.org/IBEW/directory/SearchDirectory/States.asp?State=TX&District=7

NOT every local is a construction local!
Construction locals are typically inside/outside classification.

Other classifications include:
Railroads
Line Clearing/Tree Trimming
Maint.
etc
