First time poster. Hello.

I am working on a project where a client wants to repurpose an electrical substation from one building to another. It will require dismantling of the HVL sections, transformer, and LV distributions sections to be reassembled. There are several OCPD that are 1200A and higher that were not originally required to have ERMS per article 240.87. I can't find anywhere that notes if this would require the equipment to be brought up to code and retrofitted with ERMS or if it would be considered "grandfathered". Any reference or direction would be appreciated.

Equipment is being disconnected and demoed.
Equipment is being installed.

Where in NEC 240.87 is the exception for when 'used' equipment is installed?
