I do very little house wiring. What are some of mistakes that are made win installing AFCI that make them trip ? ( what makes a afci trip when installed correct ? )

Think 30ma gfp when working with afci's

Also consider a lower mag trip (be it electronically enhanced or not)

In my experience if you make sure all of the circuit connections (ALL OF THE CONNECTION) on that circuit is tight, you are not sharing neutral, the neutral is not connected to the EGC then you should have a trouble free AFCI operation. Also make sure when installing the cable it does not get damaged.

I have NEVER had any issue with AFCI tripping.

Dimming loads trips afcis.
I think afcis don't trip if the operating current is less than 5 amps. Thats why i keep low amps on dimming modules, dimmers with led drivers, AV equipment.
