Arc fault calculation through out service system.

There has been some discussion about arc fault current ratings. I have an 800 amp 480 volt paralelled service, guttered and tapped to 2-400 amp disconnects. Inspector say to label the disconnects with have the air rating because of wire size.
From an engineering stand point that would be wrong. Arc fault potential should be the same from transformer to first means of protection. Anyone have hard copy of this fact? And where can I find it?

No specific reference, but if you look at the calculation you see that it includes the wire impedance, not the wire size. As long as the run is short the impedance of that length of wire will be small regardless if its size.
If it is so small that it acts like a fuse you have a different situation of course.
On the other hand if you have an extra 100 feet of service conductor the available current will be lower at the far end than at the near end even though there is no OCPD.
