So
A circuit was incorrectly wired as a California 3 way, and with no neutral arc fault pops. I understand the circuit will not work as planned, but may this be a work around?

3 way at line in, thru light, to single pole at other location, with red as traveler thru light box to black back at second switch, then back to light? All grounds and neutrals tied at boxes and light.

I understand it’s wrong but walls are up and no way to fix.
Thx in advance

Yes, was miss wired, unable to access, and fix to add extra common wire. I realize it’a wrong, but trying to come up with work around. Yes, there’s bo responsibility for what has been done wrong.

That's easy to fix: (The SP switch needs to be replaced with a 3-w switch)

1. Incoming black stays where it is on first 3-w common terminal.
2. Incoming white stops at light neutral terminal.
3. Black traveler connects to (re-colored) white from light to second 3-w.
4. Red traveler stays as is between 3-w switches.
5. Black from second 3-w switch returns as light hot.

The common does not carry, and I am assuming causing trip
I don't know what you mean by "the common does not carry". It looks to me like your common comes from the source and feeds the light. As long as the afci is on the supply side I don't see what would make it trip.

Did as described, afci breaker pops when 2nd switch is on. Both ends are on same line/circuit

Common stops at light, in between switches, and does not carry to 2nd switch box.

You need to contact a local EC for assistance.
