Arc Fault protection for bath circuit.

When did the 20 amp bath receptacle circuit start to require arc fault protection, code cycle?

There is a reason for my question. I may be going nuts.

Good, I'm not in a parallel universe.

When an inspector says those have been required to be Arc Fault protected for 2 or 3 code cycles and says it with conviction the only explanation I could think of was that I have either lost the last of my brain cells or woke up in a parallel universe ( things may be slightly different there).
