Arc fault question/vent fan in shower

Does the lighting circuit in a bathroom need to be arc fault protected, and I am installing a vent fan inside a shower enclosure. I’m assuming it needs to be GFI protected?

The AFCI will depend on the code edition you are on. The GFCI will depend on the listing of the fan.

2023 clarifies the bath fan receptacle, within the unit, does not require GFCI protection unless required by the manufacturer. IE, usually only if over a tub or shower.

Every three years. I'm in Massachusetts and we go right into the new one immediately. Maybe having the NFPA headquarters here has some influence on that.
