Arc-Fault requirements to existing circuits.

I am referencing 210.12(b).
It states that when adding to an existing circuit arc protection is required.
In my situation. I am moving 1 switch over due to wall removal. I am not adding more that 6 feet of wire and not adding any more devices than there were originally. I believe I am in compliance with the exception due to the using less than 6' of wire and not adding devices or outlets. Emphasizing the plural on devices or outlets. My inspector interpretation is the plural (s) still counts as one.
Plz advise your interpretation to expand my knowledge.

There are no additional outlets and not more than 6' of additional conductor so you should be good without AFCI protection.

I think you are referring to 210.12(D). I don't understand what you are saying with regard to the inspector's interpretation. What do you mean by singular versus plural?

Based on what you have said, I think you are in compliance with the exception.

What I meant by inspectors interpretation - Generally if you are speaking about a singular thing or multiple things in the same context. You would display it as "outlet(s) or device(s). Therefore it counts as one or multiple outlets or devices. My inspector also counted the j-box as an outlet in addition to the switch.

The way it is used in this instance, I don't see it really matters if it is written as singular or plural, I think the way it is written covers addition of a single or multiple outlets.
