What year was Article 210.12 in regards to Arc Fault was implemented or put in place into the Code?

Question asked by students in class. Any information would be greatly apprecicated...

The original proposals were to put it in the 1996 code. It did not make it into the code until 1999. In 99 it only covered receptacle outlets and in 02 that was expanded to all bedroom outlets.

yes in 2002. the 1999 code book in section210 showed when it was going to be inforced
