Arc faults are now required in WI. 210.12B which referes to branch circuits suplying outlets do they mean just recepticles? Are lighting outlets or lighting circuits required to be arc fault protected? I take it an unfinished basement would not require arc fault protection? And why not kitchen outlets? They way I read it tamper proof recepticles are pretty much required in the whole house? Thanks

Branch circuits start at the terminal of the breaker. AFCI protection is required for the entire circuit.... conductors, devices, luminaires, smoke detectors included.

The key word there is outlets meaning lights, plugs. I know in Massachusetts they are not required for outside lights, kitchens, unfinished basements, and bathrooms as well. As for TR they are required in the whole dwelling and outside receptacles must be TR/WP.

Arc-Fault in all interior living areas, not in unfinished basement or kitchen.
Yes, lighting and smoke circuits need arc fault.
