Arc Faults in Bedrooms

Are you permitted to run the lighting circuits in bedrooms off of the recepts that now have to be on arc fault breakers...I have been out of the circuit for a few years and need to catch up on my residential wiring methods...Thanks

Take a read of 210.12(B). As you read it, remember that the term outlet used it the NEC citation covers more than receptacles. (Read the definition of outlet in Article 100.) Smokes and luminaires must also have AFCI protection when installed in a dwelling bedroom.

Whether you install one circuit to "outlets" in the bedroom, or multiple circuits, any circuit (125 V 15 & 20 A) that supplies an outlet or outlets in a bed must be protected by AFCI.
