once again,old house HUD rehab,if outlets are add or brought up to code from non grounded, would the room have to be on a arc-Fault as we are under the 2002 nec.Yes,No code to back up.Also if no smoke dectors now would new ones have to be hard wired.

I am sorry, I thought this was a complete duplicate and deleted the other one. While watching it dump, I saw that it had additional information. Charlie

It may be up to the AHJ. See section 210.12 for AFCI requirements. See article 100 for definition of branch circuit and outlet.
