I have been assigned to set up a lunch and learn for NFPA70E training for a large group of people at a chemical refinery. Is there any companies out there that will come to your site and set up a live arc flash demonstration?

. . . a live arc flash demonstration?
Are you really suggesting that someone intentionally cause an arc flash event in full view of a live audience? There is no way to make that safe! An arc flash can throw molten metal a great distance, so no person can be permitted to be within direct sight of the explosion. When laboratories conduct such tests the arc flash takes place in a separate room with video cameras recording the test.

I know these demonstrations exist Charlie. Expensive?....YES! Why not demonstrate this hazard this way? As long as it can be done safely, I think its well worth the money. The local power company used to do it for free...but with all the changes to safety regulations they say the liability is too much for them to bear...understandable.

And the above in red doesn't seem like it is a very dangerous thing to do?, I can clearly understand why a power company or anyone else for that matter decided to stop doing it in front of a live audience, it just can't be done that would guarantee safety, I have never seen or heard of any company preforming an arc flash live, all we see at work are videos.
