Sad story but important lesson for those who think they are safe working on energized equipment. No reason to install GF light son an energized system.

The downtime cost to deenergize this system will now pale in comparison to what this company will now have to pay for being negligent.

I'll add this report to my catelog of why working live is done by the ignorant and stupid.

I do contracting work at a facility formerly owned by Martin Murietta. As the story goes, the new owner offered to throw a barrel of money to upgrade the electrical system, but the old manager wouldn't have it. He was replaced with a newer and smarter manager, who wants the upgrades. It is my hope that no one gets injured before these changes take place. I am not trying to bag on anyone about safety, but most people have no idea about how fast an electrical accident can happen, and how much damage they do. Never work energized unless you absolutely have to, and are using every piece of safety protection required.
