Arc Proof Tape Requirement

Hello - We designed a 12470V electrical distribution for a waste water treatment campus and the EC sent in this RFI (attached) regarding the MV Feeder conductors based on a section in the specifications.


Never had this question asked before as I always figured each cable wrapped independently mostly because the portions of the circuit that need to be wrapped are separated where the terminations to the equipment are required and could not be wrapped together. Any thoughts as to why they would ask this question? Kind of puzzling to me. Thanks for looking/responding!

I worked at an industrial plant where the 5kV feeders were fire wrapped in the manholes. These were single conductor 350 kcmil, and when we wrapped them, the 3 conductors of the circuit were wrapped together.

Have never even seen fire wrapping within an enclosure where the cables are being terminated.
