I know this has been mentioned before but I cant remember the conclusion. Are holes in joists considered bundleing as per 310.15(B)(2). I know 24" and less does not have to be considered but cables going through joists dont exactly "maintain spacing". So do they technically need to be derated?

Random House:
bundle-1. Several objects or a quantity of material gathered or bound together.

Your guess is as good as mine. I'd say that if there is space between the cables and they're not bound together for more than 24 continuos inches than derating doesn't apply. You may find a lot of opinions to the contrary however.

This rule can be ignored if the bundle is less than 10' and less than 10% of the total circuit length. 310.15(A)(2), Exception :)
