My interpretation is all motor control circuits if it is tapped on the load side of a motor branch circuit shall be protected separately.
Some manufacturers of motor driven equipment does not provide protection for their control circuits.
For example I have a 20 amp circuit breaker protecting a #12 AWG branch circuit conductor . The control circuit is #14 AWG and does not have overcurrent protection. Is there any violation if I reduced the circuit breaker to 15 amps?
