Historically the medical facilities in this area have always spec'ed ALL wiring to be in a raceway.
Presently we have a job at a clinic where the lighting is low-voltage control (Lutron type system) and there are intercom and call stations. 517.80 seems to indicate theses systems do not be installed in raceways, Am I overlooking something ?

It seems to me that if
1. The circuits are all legitimately Class 2 and so marked and
2. The wiring used is both rated for limited power and concealed use and depending on location possibly plenum use.
If you have redesignated the Lutron so that you can install it in same raceway with power at any point then you are stuck with Chapter 3 methods for the entire circuit.
then you do not need to use raceway.

It is quite common for nurse call and even some med gas systems to be open wiring.
