With the new requirements of NEC/SEC 700.3(F) requiring a temporary source of power when maintenance is being performed on the alternate source of power, how does apply to lighting inverters being used for emergency lighting? I don’t believe the code specifies generators explicitly, but the figure 700.3(F) in the NEC seems to imply there is a source of power the uses a transfer switch. Grant it, it indicates this is just one way of providing the solution, but I wonder if the thought was applied to inverters. I can see the argument when the batteries or capacitors are being replaced, but that does happen a lot less frequently than oil replacement on a generator.

Just curious if anyone has run across this yet and what solutions they may have utilized. If not, what thoughts they may have to achieve this requirement. In my case i have (5) 6000W inverters being used for the project.

Thanks
