Do you have to increase the size of your ground wire if you increase the wire size of your current carrying conductors to avoid voltage drop?

Even if you increase the ungrounded conductor size for no other reason than it is all you had on the truck, you still have to aplly 250.112 to the EGC.

code man 32, welcome. Here it is in black and white. I agree with Roger, even if its all you had on the truck.


250.122(B) Increased in Size. Where ungrounded conductors are increased in size, equipment grounding conductors, where installed, shall be increased in size proportionately according to the circular mil area of the ungrounded conductors.
After copying and pasting this dozens of time I see that if I use a #12 ungrounded conductor and a #6 grounded conductor (all I had on the truck) I can still use a #12 EGC. Go figure.
