I was reading the requirements within 480 of the NEC code book, and it says

Insulation of batteries
Batteries with an electrically conductive container need insulating support if there is a voltage between the container and ground.

My question is, if the battery case is plastic, we would not need to insulate it from the shelf. Reading article 480, do you agree with that statement? Battery Shelf.jpg Battery Shelf Full.jpg

Yes I think that language is referring to the construction of the battery itself, not the enclosure it's installed in. ("Batteries constructed..."). So it does not apply to nonconductive plastic battery cases.
