I am doing the electrical on an addition on a residence. I plan on using SER cable to feed an interior 150amp sub panel from the existing 400amp panel. The addition includes a new in ground pool, I plan on feeding a 60amp sub panel for the pool from the new 150amp sub panel. I know the 60amp sub feeds from the new interior panel to the exterior 60amp pool sub panel will have to be in conduit with an insulated ground. My question is will the SER be acceptable for the sub feeds to the new 150amp sub panel or will it have to be in conduit as well with an insulated ground?

You're fine with the feed to the inside subpanel. Also correct in your assumption for the outdoor panel.
I don't have a 2017 book, but I think they changed the rule for an insulated EGC for a dwelling to allow an uninsulated EGC. (I think I read that anyway)

Welcome.

The 150A subpanel can be wired with 4 wire SER cable. From the subpanel to the pool panel you need insulated copper wire in a raceway/conduit. At least by the 08 code.

Jeez, I just looked at the 2017 and 680.25 is way different.

A feeder supplying a pool pump panel does not need an insulated EGC unless it is installed in a "corrosive environment". A new section defines what that is.

So SER could possibly used be to supply both sub panels under the 2017.

Looks like I am okay with the SER to the first panel. The first panel is the one I was most concerned about. I have to run it through an exiting 2 story house and it is over 100'. Conduit would require at least 2 junction boxes. Much easier with SER!!

Yup...the aluminum manufacturers won one here...

Also note for 2017...if the feeder is in a metal raceway that qualifies as an equipment ground...no wire type grounding conductor needed at all in non-corrosive environments...

If the OP is running any part of the feeder underground, he can't use SER at all.
