Can I run pvc conduit with electrical wires (scedule 40, 24" below grade) in the same trench with the gas line? or it needs separation.
Thanks

NEC has no restriction on it, maybe the gas installer does?

680 is for swimming pools, fountains, spas - what does this have to do with your question about the gas piping?

Maybe he wants to run the electrical conduit in the same trench as the gas line for the pool heater.

Yes it is correct I would like to run one of my cuircuits to the pool ligth in the same trench. I would like to place the pvc just next to the gas line.

What difference would it make if it was in the same trench or another trench?
Once it is burried it is in the same earth. The only thing you should be concerned about is any separation that may be required by the gas code.

Bury one of them first, then come back and dig another trench only a couple inches away and install the other. Now they are in close proximity but in separate trenches:happyyes:

Where I am in oregon the inspectors require a 1 foot seperation, be it horizontally or vertically.

Any good reason why? In my experiences buried lines from any system are generally better off being right next to each other or completely away from each other. 1 foot apart is inviting damage to one of them when digging up the other or for future excavations when you find one the other one is right there also.

Even when you know they are both there, these things still happen. Loose soils like sand may not be as much a problem. Hard clay is easy to damage a line just trying to find it sometimes.
