When considering 700.12 (Sources of Power) (B)(5) (Auxiliary Power Supply), for a generator plant that can't pick up load in 10 seconds, can an uninterruptible power supply act as the "auxiliary power supply" if it is not in compliance with 700.12(C) because it doesn't have 90 minutes of battery capacity required by 700.12(A)?
It is somewhat circular logic, but if I use a UPS to make up for a slow gen plant, but that UPS can't act on it's own by the definition of a UPS in 700.12(C), can it be an "auxiliary power supply" and not a UPS, even though it is listed as a UPS by the manufacturer?

I would say that the requirements of 700.12(C)5 are different than 700.12(A). In 700.12(A) we are talking about a primary power source "Storage batteries used as a source of power for emergency systems". While
700.12(C)5 makes a great effort not to use any of the same designations or phrases used in 700.12(A) and further states "shall be permitted if an auxiliary power supply energizes the emergency system UNTIL the generator can pick up the load. A much less stringent standard.
