Article 700 (Emerg. Systems) Question

When wiring emergency systems circuits, do the circuits need to be in non-flexible, metal conduit, or is any NEC approved wiring method (i.e. BX) acceptable as long as the emergency circuit wiring is kept entirely independent of all other wiring?

there was some confusion in the wording and I was hoping for some further clarification on regarding this issue.

Which section is confusing?

700.2 states that all other sections of the code shall apply. 700.9 A, B, C and D gives wiring requirements. As a side, AC cable, MC cable and flexable metal conduit are apporved NEC wiring methods, and I have seen them used as wiring to lights and equipment that are on emergency systems.

I with Charlie on this one.

It seems you are confusing standard emergency systems (Article 700) with Essential Electrical systems for hospitals (517.30)

517.30(C)(3) lists the acceptable wiring methods for hospital emergency systems and requires for the most part non-flexible wiring methods.
