I am looking at designing Emergency system for university non-residence buildings where the generator will be primarily for Egress Lighting and to plug in the FA system. So I'll definitely have a Art 700 ATS. There is also a need to have the buildings security system on generator and a colleague is suggesting that I'll need an Optional Standby ATS for that.
It strikes me as ridiculous for this very small load to have to have it's own ATS simply so that the Article 700 ATS is strictly life safety equipment.
It seems to me that I could make the argument for the security and door control system an Emergency load although it would be stretch.
What do you think? Do I need two ATS's for buildings like this?
Thanks,
Mike
