Hi
i am conducting a load calc for a unit in an commercial building that will be occupied by an artist who is planning to work and live there.
the space has little kitchen

i am using residential, 1-family load calc with 6 VA per square foot for general lighting instead of 3VA/sf and add others .......

is it ok to you

tanx

What kind of extra heavy electrical loads do you expect? Pottery Kiln? I'd size the load as residential and then add in any extra heavy loads.

You can always exceed the NEC requirements, but most artists I know don't have a lot of extra money.

You can use the Dwelling Clac only if it is considered a dwelling. This would be a call for the AHJ I would think.

My thoughts are is that you bring in the AHJ for a clearification of the zoning aspects;
IE if once commerical, habitation is not allowed in warehouses.

They might get into seperation by fire walls of residental and warehouse space, it
could go about anywhere in respects to getting the AHJ blessing on this project!

imo If the artist lives there then it is a dwelling. I might not use the residential table for the service but I would also becareful to see what kind of equipment the artist has.
