Asbestos Insulation?

Greetings,
What's the life expectancy of asbestos insulated cables? Is asbestos insulation similar to cotton covered lead cables?
I've attached a picture of cotton covered lead cable.

I'm going out on the limb here. As my data is not documented, but from experience in the field.
Asbestos insulated cables should last a 100 years or better if it's not been altered, extended touched or ampacity added to the circuit..
Asbestos insulation is often mistakenly referred to as cloth wiring. So I'd say yes it's similar to cotton.

I only ran into asbestos wire once and that was years ago. As I remember it was pretty rugged stuff

From a materials engineering perspective, asbestos is fantastic stuff.

You just have to keep it out of your lungs!
