asbestos wire insulation

What years was asbestos used for wire insulation, and what does it look like? Thank you.

I'm not sure it was ever commonly used in premises wiring, but I could be wrong. It was used for decades on stage lighting fixtures, where the quartz-halogen lamps created extremely high temps. It's been replaced by hi-temp fiberglass insulation; that is going away too, as more and more stage lighting is now LED and thus much lower temp.

It was white and slightly fuzzy. Usually quite soft, actually.

There was also a cloth insulation that many people mistake for asbestos but EPA said was not... in use in 40s and fifties... or earlier as well.. ran into it in Petersburg back when pulling and replacing knob and tube
