In past practice we have allowed controls associated with the piece of equipment to be attached to that piece of equipment for support. Does anyone have a code reference ? I am aware of the class 2 wiring being attached to associated raceways, 300.11.B, what about line voltage freezestats, damper motors, etc... being supported by air handling units. Thanks

I don't believe the NEC actually covers this.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with mounting valves on piping, dampers on duct work, etc, as long as it is a secure mounting, and the item can be removed safely.
