The exception is only to the rule that requires a visual inspection before each use. The exception permits you to omit the visual inspection on a cord that are not exposed to physical damage and has been left in place from the previous use.

thats a good question my book is back at the office..I don't know if surge protection devices are classified as extension cords..That is what you are referring to correct, the 3ft cord and power strip for the computer gear..

had to go to the OSHA interpretations, ext cords = temp power only so i know fully understand don's answers and i found another interpretation 1910.305 g a 2 power strips for computers are ok as long as they are plugged directly into the recpt (no daisy chain). gues they are a listed device (don't use elect.) so maybe they don't fall under the program. :confused:
