Here's a simple one though I'm having a hard time finding the answer.

In the 2012 NFPA, many paragraphs have a superscript * after their number. What does it mean?

a good guess but....

a good guess but....

that's a good guess but the 2012 version of NFPA 99 is so radically different from its predecessor (the 2005 version) that I had read that they forewent annotating changes. For example I believe what is now chapter 6 was actually chapter 4 before. So while I don't know for sure, I don't think that's it.
